Soil Maintenance

During first years, weeds must be removed by hand around the tree. Do not use herbicides next to the trunk. A good practice is to put horse manure mulch or other organic matter. In this way, weeds don't grow and keep humidity. The rest of the soil can be kept clean with systemic herbicides such as glyphosate or with grower passes, away from the seedlings.

Tratamiento del suelo

We take care of soil insects: slugs, snails, etc..

Fertilization

When taking the plants in our nursery, the client receives a written sheet with fertilization for three years, treatment for pests, irrigation and other cultural practices.

From this time, the fertilization will be directed to the production and it will be based on the leaves analysis that every year should be performed.

Pruning

During the first 3 years shall prune coinciding with flowering. Once trained the tree, pruning will be heading to clean dry or malformed branches.

Treatments

Treatments given to plants are preventive, to avoid certain fungal diseases, as Oidium and Anthracnose or other caused by the Pseudomonas syringae bacterium, which appears at the beginning of winter with low temperatures.

Mealybugs must be watched over because they can be a problem, particularly Pinnaspis strachanis during spring and summer.

Two months before harvest of mango, should be placed traps to control the Mediterranean fruit fly (Ceratitis capitata).
